Our Team at Don Of All Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services had a blast at the 2014 Local Biz Expo and Trade Show held at the Ajax Convention Centre. It was an exciting event we participated in and although it was a long tiring day, it was so worth it to be involved alongside other fantastic local businesses in the Durham Region. For over a month we have been planning and organizing a charity bbq event to help raise funds and donated items benefiting Herizon House, a not for profit organization who provide free confidential services 24 hours a day and provide a place of safety, support and empowerment for abused women and their children. Herizon House is committed to ending the cycle of abuse and violence in the community.
Yolanda D’Orazio, founder and volunteer coordinator of the Don Of All Trades Building Trees of Hope Program hosted a small Women Lunch in aid of Herizon House Women’s Shelter-a not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides a place of safety where women and children will feel accepted, supported and empowered as they move towards living their lives free of violence in Durham Region.
This was a perfect opportunity for Women in Business to get together, have fun, connect, share, show support and enjoy good food and conversation while making a contribution to our Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope program benefiting Herizon House.
As we all know, networking events are great but from my past experiences, I feel there is never enough time to really get to talk and get to know each other.
This special lunch was the perfect opportunity for women in business to spend some time together, have fun, connect and enjoy some good food, great conversation a nd help our community.
I was excited and looking forward to being their hostess for this event and being able to reach out and assist women and children in our community who at times, need help the most.
We were delighted to invite our friends, family members and women in businesses to our Women’s Helping Hands Charity High Tea Eventheld on November 14 hosted by Yolanda D’Orazio,Volunteer Coordinator of the Don Of All Trades Helping Hands Building Tree’s of Hope Program. This was a charming and super delicious way to spend an afternoon and help the community. Our Goal was to drop off 30 donated items to ensure every women and child received something special this Christmas from the community.
On Saturday March 5, 2016 Don Of All Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services not only wanted to tell these women why they are so important, but to thank them for being there for us and for doing the great things that they do. We held an International Women’s Day Celebration luncheon in their honor. We are so happy how this event turned out that we are already planning for next year’s International Women’s Day Luncheon! We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed this event as much as we did.

We are very excited and proud to share that our hard work and efforts definitely paid off at the Hope 4 Her Handmade and Local Gift Show benefiting Herizon House . Our Helping Hands Spring Plant and Bake Sale Tables generated over $500 including donated items through our drop box and we collected over 31 Helping Hands to help complete our second Helping Hands Tree of Hope!!! Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts especially to Angela and Carmela who helped through volunteering and donating baked goods. We appreciate it so much. Don of All Trades wants to continue to support our communities by helping to give back. Stay tuned for more events coming soon!
As with all of our Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope charity events we host, there was no charge to attend however we did ask for our guests to donate non-perishable food items from our wish list to be used by the women and their children staying at the shelter and for their out reach program.
On Saturday, June 25th, we were once again delighted to invite our friends. family and local businesses owners around for this Helping Hands Women’s Charity Barbeque event, as it made for a fun and inspirational afternoon and helped the community.
Earlier this year our team at Don of all Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services, was contacted by a friend and local business owner Sandra Howlett of Apple Melon Designs. Sandra needed some help to create a special dog house to be used as part of a fun game at her second annual Bark in the Park Event, a festival celebrating pets and the people who love them.
Kudos to everyone who helped out and showed their support at our Helping Hands Christmas Cookie Fundraiser at the Hope 4 Her Gift Show on Saturday November 26, 2016. After weeks of baking, planning and organizing to be part of this very special day, our team at Don of All Trades is proud to announce that our tables raised $713 that was donated to Herizon House Women’s Shelter. We also wanted to send out a HUGE Thank-You to everyone who bought cookies before the event! What an incredible and humbling experience to help give back to our community. This was a lot of work but it was so worth it!
Our guests joined our Don Of All Trades Team on Sunday, March 12 for a complimentary Italian style buffet lunch in their honor that was held inside the party room of the La Rosa Ristorante, a local establishment in our community. Thank you to all the staff at La Rosa Ristorante who made our event extra special and the food was delicious! We definitely will be coming back!
This past Mother’s Day, we reconnected our love for our moms and our respect for all women by assembling a very special project initiated by the Don of All Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services of Durham Region. Our team runs “The Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope Project”, a program that we created which turns donations into supports for women in abusive relationships.
We felt that there was no better day this year to celebrate our moms by recognizing the value of all women and making a big difference for a victim of domestic violence.
On Saturday, June 24, we were once again delighted to invite our friends, clients, local businesses owners, neighbors and family around for our third annual Don of all Trades Charity BBQ Event benefiting Herizon House Women’s Shelter as it made for a fun and inspirational afternoon and helps the community!
Don of All Trades Professional Home Maintenance Services is proud to announce that our Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope Program will once again be be hosting our 2nd Christmas Cookie Fundraiser Sale on SUNDAY NOVEMBER 19 at our home in support of Herizon House Women's Shelter. It's our last fundraiding event of the year and we want to end 2017 with Bang to help raise money benefiting Herizon House Women's Shelter! Help us reach our goal of raising $2000 and by completing our Helping Hand Hope Tree by December 31st by buying our Christmas Cookies and Sweet Treats WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!
From now until the end of February, I am putting together a collection of cat food, cat toys, cat treats and kitty litter in memory of our beloved Meesh who left our family on January 29, 2017 after being a HUGE and Special part of our family for over 16 years. Our family still misses him everyday. I thought it would be so wonderful to honor Meesh's memory by helping other pet owners in the community in difficult times by donating food, litter and toys and donate them to Biggie & Frank's Pet Food Bank organization created and run by a beautiful women, Sandra Howlett and is located right here in Durham Region. If anyone is interested to donate any items in Memory of Meesh, please let me know. Send me a message and I will respond back a.s.a.p. Anything and everything will help. This years venue was held on Sunday March 4th at the Waters Edge Buffet Restaurant located inside the Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry, Ontario. It was a beautiful sunny day to celebrate, the food was delicious and it was so good to be able to just sit together, catch up and enjoy each other’s company again.
Amazing things happen when people come together to help others! Helping others in their time of need really shows how a community can come together no matter where they are from in a difficult time. This is just another example of how some very special women came out to show their support by donating items to put into 15 special Mother's Day Gift Bags to help brighten the holidays for women staying at Herizon House Women's Shelter.
Helping Hands Pillow Drive Update!
During the month of August our team held a pillow drive that were donated to Herizon House Women's Shelter through our Don of all Trades Helping Hands Building Trees of Hope Program.
We reached our goal of collecting 55 brand new standard size pillows!
The staff was so amazed by what we were able to do for them and they took the pillows directly to the shelter to be used immediately! Thank you to everyone who participated in our pillow drive.
Sending out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who made a contribution to our Helping Hands Food Drive in support of Herizon House Women's Shelter. We Collected 301 non perishable food items, 2 grocery store gift cards, 6 books and 8 toiletries items that were all donated to the women's shelter. We would also like to thank everyone for adding their helping hand to our Tree of Hope! We look forward to doing more and giving back to help our communities in 2019!

We celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday May 12 of this year by donating 15 Gift Bags that help brighten the holidays for women at Herizon House Women’s Shelter!
